Sharp has opted to leave Minnesota's basketball program to focus on his education, Marcus Fuller of the Star-Tribune reports.

The junior walk-on averaged 2.5 points over 24 games during his two seasons for the Gophers, including drawing four starts at point guard during 2015-16. Notably, he dropped 19 points against Illinois and 16 points against Wisconsin during his freshman year. If he chooses to pursue collegiate basketball at a later date, he'll have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Stephon Sharp: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

March 11, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Sharp collected six points (2-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), one rebound and one assist during Wednesday’s loss to Illinois.

Despite playing 37 minutes Wednesday, Sharp was unable to produce high volume numbers. This comes as a bit of a surprise considering Sharp was averaging 16.0 PPG over his last three games before Wednesday. Sharp’s drastic increase in minutes over the last week can best be attributed to the indefinite suspensions of Kevin Dorsey, Nate Mason and Dupree McBrayer. Sharp has only appeared in 15 games this season, but his spike in minutes have brought some value to his name.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Sharp had 13 points, five rebounds and two assists Saturday against Rutgers.

Sharp also turned the ball over seven times, but he is averaging 16.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game over the last three games as he's been pressed into action.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Sharp had a team-high 16 points with four rebounds and three assists Wednesday night against Wisconsin.

Sharp has been a revelation over the last two games for a thin Gophers' squad, with totals of 35 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Continued good play should put him in line for a significant role next season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Sharp had a career-high 19 points (4-for-6 from beyond the arc) with three rebounds and one assist Sunday night against Illinois.

Sharp saw 36 minutes of action with Nate Mason, Dupree McBrayer and Kevin Dorsey suspended for the game. With this performance, the freshman guard has made a case for more playing time over the final two games of the season.
