Injuries

Fabio Maldonado    Other    Light Heavyweight
Maldonado will be sidelined for three months after suffering a laceration in his right wrist, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Maldonado was involved in a home accident on Saturday during which he fell on a glass door and gashed his wrist, cutting an artery. Luckily, the light heavyweight fighter quickly underwent surgery is in recovery. Maldonado last fought in March of 2017, beating Abdul-Khamid Davlatov via TKO in a 220-pound catchweight bout.
Michael Graves    Other    Welterweight
Graves was released from his contract with UFC on Monday, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Graves was arrested last October on charges of misdemeanor battery and had been barred from competition since. The welterweight prospect will finish his UFC tenure with a 6-0-1 record.
Kyoji Horiguchi    Other    Flyweight
Horiguchi defeated Yuki Montoya via unanimous decision at Rizin FF 5 on Sunday morning.

Fantasy Analysis

Horiguchi turned down a UFC deal to take his talents overseas, and the 26-year-old is already off to a good start. Few in this promotion should be able to compete with the talented American Top Team Product, who was 7-1 with the UFC before leaving the company.
Tonya Evinger    Other    Bantamweight
Evinger defeated Yana Kunitskaya via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:32 of Round 2 to retain her Invicta bantamweight title.

Fantasy Analysis

Evinger was beaten by Kunitskaya back in November 2016, but the fight was ultimately ruled a no-contest due to an error made by the referee, who forced Evinger to move from a legal position -- which likely lead to her submission. Now, the Invicta bantamweight division has an unquestioned champion again, as Evinger was able to hold off multiple early submission attempts from Kunitskaya en route to eventually finishing the fight in the second. Overall, it was an exciting, back-and-forth fight where Evinger warded off guillotine, heel hook and kneebar attempts. The tide started to turn for her towards the end of the first round, where Evinger was able to earn a positional advantage and began to pour on ground and pound. From there, she went into Round 2 in the driver's seat before eventually earning the submission. Evinger is now 7-0 (1 NC) under the Invicta banner.
Nicolas Dalby    Other    Welterweight
Dalby stated via his personal Instagram account that he was released by the UFC on Wednesday.

Fantasy Analysis

Dalby has never been knocked out in his time with the UFC, but a record of 1-2-1 simply wasn't enough to keep the 32-year-old Denmark native around. His social media post suggested he would continue to train in MMA, so look for the welterweight fighter to catch on elsewhere in the near future.
Kyoji Horiguchi    Other    Flyweight
Horiguchi, who recently turned down an extension offer from the UFC, has agreed to a deal to compete for Rizin, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

The 26-year-old Horiguchi has been riding a three-fight winning streak in the UFC, and is 7-1 overall since joining the promotion in 2013 -- his only loss came to champion Demetrious Johnson. Rather than jump back on board with the UFC, he'll take his talents overseas to compete in the Japanese upstart. According to the report, he already has a fight booked against Yuki Motoya on April 16.
Mirko Cro Cop    Other    Heavyweight
Cro Cop, who recently capped off a Rizin openweight grand prix title with a victory over Amir Aliakbari, announced his retirement from MMA on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani on Monday afternoon.

Fantasy Analysis

Cro Cop plans to undergo surgery to address swelling in his knee, but did leave the door open for a "farewell bout" if the 42-year-old manages to make a full recovery. The former UFC heavyweight recently fought three times in two days to cap off his victory in the Japan-based tournament, with each of his four victories in that four victories in that event coming via stoppage. Although his legacy may be tainted by a USADA violation that led to him parting ways with the UFC, there's no questioning his place in MMA history. He fought professionally 49 times since starting his career in 2001, finishing with a 35-11-2 record (1 NC).
Mirko Cro Cop    Other    Heavyweight
Cro Cop defeated Muhammad Lawal via TKO (punches) at 1:41 of Round 2 at the Rizin Fighting World Grand Prix on Thursday.

Fantasy Analysis

Cro Cop got past Hyun Man Myung via submission (arm-triangle choke) in the opening round, and his victory over "King Mo" will punch his ticket to the semifinals, where Baruto Kaito awaits. Lawal is quite possibly his most impressive victory in the last five years, as he is a top light heavyweight contender under the Bellator banner. The 42-year-old Croatian's success overseas doesn't necessarily mean he'll be heading to the states anytime soon, as he was released from his UFC contract in last July, eight months after a reported USADA violation.
Kyoji Horiguchi    Other    Flyweight
Horiguchi defeated Ali Bagautinov via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Fantasy Analysis

Bagautinov came out looking to wrestle. He used several clinches and takedowns to look solid in the first round. In the second round, Horiguchi defended against the clinch much better. The Japanese fighter landed some quality strikes before scoring his own takedown late in the round. He took the back with one hook and landed punches until Bagautinov got back to his feet with 20 seconds left in the round. In the final frame, almost the entire round took place on the feet. Horiguchi controlled the distance with his striking and pulled out the decision. He is now 3-0 since falling against Demetrious Johnson last year.
Michael Graves    Other    Welterweight
Graves was removed from the UFC Fight Night 100 card on Nov. 19 in Brazil after being arrested Monday on charges for domestic violence, Damon Martin of FOX Sports reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Graves has been accused of misdemeanor battery charges, but exact details of the situation are still unclear. Sergio Morales will be in need of another opponent heading into Nov. 19.
Mirko Cro Cop    Other    Heavyweight
Cro Cop will face a 40-year-old Wanderlei Silva at the Rizin FF 2016 World Grand Prix quarterfinals on Dec. 29, MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Cro Cop defeated Hyn Man Myung in his first bout of the tournament, while Silva was granted a bye. Each fighter likely has their best days of fighting well behind them, but the names are big enough for a meaningful draw at the event scheduled in Saitama, Japan.
Michael Graves    Other    Welterweight
Graves will face Sergio Moraes at UFC Fight Night 100 on November 19, Esther Lin of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Graves is unbeaten in professional MMA fights so far, and fought to a majority draw in his last UFC fight against Bojan Velickovic in July. The young welterweight will look to continue his streak against Moraes, who is adept at submission finishes.
Nicolas Dalby    Other    Welterweight
Dalby lost to Peter Sobotta via unanimous decision (26-30, 26-30, 26-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Hamburg, Germany.

Fantasy Analysis

Dalby entered the fight as a -200 favorite, but he put forth a truly awful performance. Technically, Dalby got better as the fight went along, but that's only because he was totally non-competitive in the first frame. He took such a beating in Round 1 that his body was unable to recover for the remainder of the fight. It's a minor miracle that Dalby managed to last the entire 15 minutes. In four UFC fights, Dalby is 1-2 (1NC) and his win was of the split decision variety against someone named Elizeu Zaleski Dos Santos. It's safe to say the 31-year-old is nothing but roster depth.
Bubba Jenkins    Other    Featherweight
Jenkins will face Georgi Karakhanyan at Bellator 160 on August 26.

Fantasy Analysis

The first time Jenkins faced Karakhanyan was in January 2015, when he lost due to a technical submission in the first round. Since then, Jenkins has gone on to win three straight fights, raising his record to 11-2. Karakhanyan has struggled in his two fights since then, losing both bouts by unanimous decision.
Mirko Cro Cop    Other    Heavyweight
Cro Cop's remaining UFC contract was terminated so that he can fight in the Rizin Fighting Federation, MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Cro Cop was suspended two years by the USDA for voluntarily informing them that he had used growth hormone to treat a shoulder injury. He retired from MMA last Novermber, but wanted to continue fighting, so he'll fight under Rizin for the meantime. Cro Cop isn't eligible to return to the octagon until November 8, 2017.
