Lakers' scoreboard-lighting second half keys home win over Bulls
Chicago Bulls at Los Angeles Lakers

By Juan Carlos Blanco

After Chicago built a seemingly comfortable 56-42 halftime edge, the Lakers exploded for 61 second-half points. Each member of the Bulls' starting five hit double digits in the scoring column, along with one reserve. In comparison, the Lakers saw only three first-string players manage the feat, but that was offset by a combined 22 points from Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle off the bench. Both teams notably finished in a 54-54 deadlock on the glass for the night. The emerging Denzel Valentine's 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals led Chicago. Antonio Blakeney contributed a bench-leading 15 points. Robin Lopez posted 14 points, while standout rookie Lauri Markkanen registered a 13-point, 14-rebound double-double. Kris Dunn poured in 12 points, and Justin Holiday managed a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double. Kyle Kuzma's 22 points paced the Lakers. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope supplied a near double-double of 21 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Ingram's final line included 17 points, five rebounds and five assists. Clarkson tallied 12 points, while Randle, who posted a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double, scored eight of his points in a pivotal third period. Lonzo Ball generated just eight points but added 13 rebounds, four assists and one steal. Brook Lopez tallied four points and nine rebounds.
